BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic temporarily relaxes the muscles behind expression lines. It is FDA-approved for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, and crow’s feet in adults. Results typically last about three to four months.

Therapeutic BOTOX® for Jaw Tension and TMJ Symptoms

Therapeutic BOTOX® relaxes overactive jaw muscles, which may reduce muscle tension and jaw pain for some patients. Using BOTOX® for TMJ is considered off-label, and results vary from person to person.

Not all TMJ symptoms come from muscle tension, so we’ll examine you to find what’s causing yours. We’ll also talk through whether treatment makes sense on its own or alongside other care, such as a night guard.

Treatment isn’t right for everyone. Tell us if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis, are allergic to any ingredient in BOTOX®, or have a skin infection near the injection area. Tell us about all the medications you take, especially muscle relaxants and certain antibiotics. We review your health history before we recommend anything.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

It starts with a consultation. We talk about what’s bothering you, review your health history and medications, and examine the area. If treatment makes sense, our team explains the areas we recommend and the cost before anything begins. The injections use a very fine needle, and you may feel small pinches.

Treatment is often quick, though the time depends on the areas treated. Many people return to their normal day afterward, and we give you specific aftercare instructions. Results build over several days to about two weeks, and we can schedule a follow-up to check how you’re doing.
